Privacy

Last updated: 4 November 2026.

This is a personal technical blog. It collects as little as possible, and the only thing that involves cookies is audience measurement, which stays off until you accept it.

Who is responsible

Abdelbaki Ben Elhaj Slimene, an individual based in the European Economic Area, runs this site and is the controller of the data described here. To contact me about your data, write to me through my GitHub profile.

Audience measurement (cookies)

I use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to see which articles are read and how people find them. It is off by default. Nothing is loaded from Google, and no cookie is set, until you click Accept in the cookie banner.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser:

CookiePurposeLifetime
_gaDistinguishes visitorsUp to 2 years
_ga_<id>Keeps session stateUp to 2 years

Through these, Google receives pseudonymous usage data: the pages you view, when, the referring site, your approximate location, and your browser, device and language. I use it only as aggregate statistics. I do not use it for advertising, and Google’s advertising signals (ad storage, ad user data, ad personalization) stay disabled.

Retention: event data (the individual page views) is kept for 2 months. Data tied to a cookie identifier, such as your user-level data, is kept for 14 months, and that period restarts each time you visit again. Aggregated reports, which cannot be traced back to you, are kept longer.

Google may process this data on servers outside the EEA, including in the United States. Google’s own terms and privacy policy describe those safeguards.

Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Choosing Decline stops measurement and deletes the analytics cookies this site set. Declining has no effect on how you can read the blog.

Your choice is stored only in your browser (localStorage, key consent-analytics), not on a server.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address and request details when your browser loads a page, and keeps server logs under its own privacy statement. I do not have access to those logs.

What else is not collected

There are no accounts, comments, forms, newsletters, advertising trackers, social-media widgets or embedded third-party content. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
